Ireland For Dummies

Visitors to the Emerald Isle would be well advised to have a look at the Ireland for Dummies website.

It gives a tongue in cheek insight into Irish ways and manners – according to the site Ireland has two time zones – Greenwich Mean Time and Local Time which can be anything between ten minutes and three days behind GM. Road signposting works on Einsteins theory that there’s no fixed point in the universe and is bilingual so you can get lost in both Irish and english, and the two national sports are football and hurling – the difference being that in football, the fighters are unarmed.

There’s plenty of other pearls of gaelic wisdom here too and any aspiring tourist could afford to dispense with the Rough Guide and use this bluffers guide instead because although it’s meant to be funny – it’s also true.
