Ah, one of Arthur G’s most sacred inventions is the humble widget – that small piece of plastic inserted to keep the collar on the can of plain.
The widget has served them well but according to the brewers website, there’s now a new way of keeping the cream at the top, it’s called the Guinness Surger - a foolproof gizmo which zaps your glass with ultrasonic pulses.
It may well be magic but anything that involves electrical current and ultrasonic pulses spells danger to me – I wouldn’t even consider surging my Guinness unless I’m wearing rubber soled shoes.
